USB to I2S interface 24 bits 192kHz

24-bit samples at 96ksps is a roadmap feature that will be supported at a later date. I believe modification to the ASRC algorithm would be required to support 24-bit samples. It may scale to 192KHz - I'll check with the software experts.

This thread and the TI USB codec offering seem to be equally in need of an update.

I have designed a 16bit 44kHz PCM2902 into a product ~5 years ago and recently the need has risen again. But this time my client wants at least 24bit 192kHz sampling. There seem to be a great many other options on the market that support the codec piece of this from makers like XMOS, AKM and Cirrus to name a few. But none of them offer the very nice plug and play USB integration that TI has done.

I recently saw a DIY project claiming to use the I2S output on the PCM2707C to bridge audio to the PCM1794A DAC at 24bit/192kHz (hackaday.com/.../). This restored my interest and hope but on further inspection and communication with TI tech support I have been told that the PCM2707 still only delivers 16bit/44kHz on the I2S output.

Certainly a part like this would be a big deal in the audio industry. It doesn't need a bunch of built in features, controls or even a DAC. Just having a multi channel I/O link from I2S to USB would be very nice. Has the roadmap for this been abandoned or is it still in the works?

Is this done yet? The market needs a higher bit rate/sampling frequency USB to I2S codec. Many manufacturers have the better bit rate and sampling but do not have the nice USB integration.

When can we expect to see this part?
