I am looking at an application where I need to encoded 720P30 video in a battery power application. The battery size and the duration it can operate are a couple of the most key design constraints.
The performance numbers given by the power calculator (SPRAB68) appear to be too high for our requirements. The app note describes at a high level the activity being modeled by the spreadsheet.
Does changing the type of encoding profile allow for lower power (by allowing the HDVICP to be run at a lower clock rate)?
Are there other optimizations that would lower power consumption?
