TMS320C6X EVM - Resources

Hi

I have just bought a used TMS320C6X EVM PCI Card that I am planning to use for embedded development. The seller did not provide any software CD's along with the board and I was wondering how to get started. All I can find on TI's website is a user guide http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spru269f/spru269f.pdf for the board.

I am in search of the drivers for the card and any insight into the software packages that can help me get started. So far, I have installed CCS.

Any information about the board is appreciated. Thanks

Sateesh

  • Sateesh,

Welcome to the TI E2E forum. I hope you will find many good answers here and in the TI.com documents and in the TI Wiki Pages. Be sure to search those for helpful information and to browse for the questions others may have asked on similar topics.

"TMS320C6X EVM" is not sufficient information to know what product this is. It should have a part number that begins with TMDS or similar.

The pink foam does not look like anti-static conductive material, which means it could damage a printed circuit board if there is a static electricity charge built up on it. You do not have to see a spark to have sufficient energy to destroy components on printed circuit cards.

You will need to do a lot of searching on the forum and the TI Wiki Pages and TI.com to try to find training material for this very old board. I spent a few minutes searching and did not find any archived training for it, but you may have better luck.

We will move this thread from this C67x Single Core Forum to the Code Composer Forum where they can comment on the availability of support for this board, once you have identified the part number for the board.

  • What is the operation voltage ?and what is the idle  time voltage of this processor??

  • Jude and Sateesh,

Please go to TI.com and search for your board. This will be the best first step. Then try the vendor's site or the internet. Do you find any useful results in that way?

From the picture, it looks like the board is intended to be plugged into an old PC, so it probably receives power from that connector. I would not recommend plugging it in to anything until you have located documentation. Emulation could be on-board or it could require an external emulator. It will not help you for me to speculate on what might be true for this board.

Please consider buying a newer development board for which you can readily get support, such as the TMDXLCDK6748 for $195.00 or the TMDSEVM6657LS for $399.00.

    Regards,
