ECC feature of L2 memory on AM3874

Hi,

I have one question for AM3874 internal memory protection.

As you know, L2 memory of AM3874 does not have ECC feature. But customer warry about the reliability of L2 memory.

According to the ARM Cortex-A8 referenc manual, ECC feature of L2 memory is option for user. Why does not TI support ECC feature for L2 memory?

Is it guaranteed no memory corruption without ECC or parity check?

Hello Michi,

I have checked the TRM. Regarding the ARM subsystem it says that there is "256K-Byte L2 Cache with ECC".

Thank you for your reply.

I heard "256K-Byte L2 Cache with ECC" is typo from TIJ guy. Please check this to your IC designer. Of course, I would like to know the resason why AM3874 guarantee the data without ECC.

GEM L2 supports ECC but no ECC support on ARM L2.

Sorry, GEM is the DSP on those devices that have a DSP.
