AM3354 with LCD and HDMI Both

Hello,

Is there any way we can have both 24 Bit RGB LCD and HDMI interface ( support of 1080P) and they would be independant of each other. We felt some interfacing IC can be used for this purpose. We planned to use Sil9022A.

  • What do you mean by independent? If you want to display different content on two displays this wouldn't be possible. The AM335X has only one LCD controller.
  • Hello,

Thanks for the quick response. Well, my query was little confusing. Let me correct...We are aware that this has only one LCD controller with 24 Bit RGB out. We are interfacing LCD ( 7" with 800x600) as well as HDMI transmitter with the help of some Buffers. Our primary requirement is whether 1080p is possible on HDMI out. Secondly, we should be able to view the contents on LCD and HDMI simulteneously. Also we can choose between LCD/HDMI with some OE pins of the buffers.

Main concern is 1080p HDMI out..with LCD and HDMI both working. We believe, pixel clock for LCD wouldn't be enough for HDMI out with 1080p resolution. IS there any way out..

  • Hi ykfs,

According to the AM335X datasheet the maximum pixel clock is approx. 126.5MHz (7.9ns clock period, Table 5-72 parameter 1). For 1080p most HDMI transmitters require pixel clock of 148.5MHz. Something that may help in this situation is finding an HDMI transmitter with an embedded 1080p upscaler.
