Running IP on the ICE

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PROFIBUS, SYSBIOS, AM3359

Hi,

my company is designing a board for embedded measurement device and we are using the ICE-hardware design as reference.

Basicly the board should be able to communicate over TCP and a real-time bus (Profibus or Profinet). Perfect would be at the same time!

Is there any possibility to run TCP/IP or Profinet (with TCP/IP support) any time soon? Or would it be faster if we redesign the hardware?

Would it be possible to design the hardware that we use the "normal" ethernet (like on the EVM) and use Profinet on the other port later, if it gets availible?

  • Hello Benjamin,

Does your product require 2 industrial ethernet and 1 standard ethernet inteface at the same time?

If you are developing your own hardware, you could probably refer our AM3359 IDK design. Today, that platform supports 2 Industrial Ethernet interfaces and one standard ethernet interface. And our SYSBIOS SDK has the software support for this standard interface with the lwip TCP/IP stack. EtherNet/IP and ProfiNet is under development and when available it will run over the Industrial Ethernet interfaces.

    Thanks,
