PCIE link not up

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3894

Hi,

I have these long PCIe traces, about 6 to 7 inches, running on my AM3894 custom board which I am not able to get the PCIe link up.

I am connecting the PCIE to a FPGA with just a single lane. So far, from the register 0x51001728, I keep getting 00 at bit 1 and 0 with once a while the bit 0 toggle to 1.

Are there any adjustments like TX amplitude swing, pre-emphasis, equalization which I can tweak with?

Please advise.

Thanks and regards,

pb

  • Hi Poh,

Are you planning to use the DM816x PCIe in root complex (RC) or end point (EP) mode?

The initialization sequence is presented in the DM816x TRM (make sure you follow the guidelines) section:

17.3.1.1 PCIe Root Complex Initialization Sequence

17.3.2.1 PCIe End Point Initialization Sequence

Note also that the DEBUG1[4] XMLH_LINK_UP read-only bit is giving the status about the PCIe PHY link is up or not.

The PCIe electrical parameters and set-up is documented in DM816x datasheet, section 8.14 Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe)

    Regards,

    Pavel
