USB U-boot commands ( Sitara SK - how to add to)

Hello,

There is no USB support commands among the U-boot list of commands of my TMDSSK3358.

In order to add them, I #defined:

CONFIG_USB_UHCI,  CONFIG_USB_STORAGE,  CONGIG_CMD_STORAGE,  CONFIG_CMD_FAT

symbols, but after then U-boot compilation ends with the following messages:

/ti-sdk-am335x-evm-05.05.01.00/board-support/u-boot-2011.09-psp04.06.00.08/common/usb.c:140: undefined reference to `usb_lowlevel_stop'

Could you please suggest what I'm doing wrong (any updates to Makefile, or maybe I should specify OHCI or EHCI instead, ...)

In the AMSDK user's manual I see how to use USB commands, but not how to properly add them to the U-boot for the am335x.

Thanks.

  • Hi sviss,

I can see from your log that you are using TI SDK AM335x version 05.05.01.00. There is a newer version of the SDK - AM335xSDK 05_06_00_00. I checked and the U-Boot in the new version supports the following usb commands:

    U-Boot# help usb
    usb - USB sub-system

    Usage:
usb start - start (scan) USB controller
usb reset - reset (rescan) USB controller
usb stop [f] - stop USB [f]=force stop
usb tree - show USB device tree
usb info [dev] - show available USB devices
usb storage - show details of USB storage devices
usb dev [dev] - show or set current USB storage device
usb part [dev] - print partition table of one or all USB storage devices
usb read addr blk# cnt - read `cnt' blocks starting at block `blk#'
        to memory address `addr'
usb write addr blk# cnt - write `cnt' blocks starting at block `blk#'
        from memory address `addr'

Are these what you are looking for?

    Best regards,
    Miroslav

  • Hi Miroslav,

Yes, this obviously is what I wanted.

I'm just a bit conservative about doing upgrades: never know what will 'ave and what will lose.

(You know, Ubuntu12, tons of "critical" updates... "Burned by milk, blow on the water")

    I'll try.

    Thanks.
