CCStudio v.5 for RM48x

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RM48L952, CCSTUDIO

Hello!

we are prototyping a board based on RM48L952 to obtain IEC 61508 certification (SIL 3).

In order to perform the project analysis I need to know:

1) CCStudio has an embedded real time DSP/BIOS kernel. Is this kernel IEC 61850 certificable? Has got CCStudio the kernel source code ? Is it obtainable ?

2) May I plan to write a program without using DSP/BIOS kernel ?

3) Can I use all the CCStudio features (debug, profiler, configuration etc.) without the kernel ?

Thanks in advance

  • Marcello,

I can answer a couple of these questions and then I will move the thread to the BIOS forum for the IEC question.

For BIOS6 CCS comes with the source code.  For BIOS5 it is possible to obtain a source license.  For RM48L952 I suspect you are using BIOS6.

You can write a program without using the BIOS kernel, there is no requirement to use it.

Most features work fine without BIOS.  Features like the RTOS Object Viewer and the RTOS analysis features of System/RTOS analyzer are dependent on BIOS.

  • Marcello:

RM4xx is not supported currently by SYS/BIOS (or DSP/BIOS) so you won't be able to use it.

In addition, we have not done any form of safety certification on SYS/BIOS. This is a major reason why we do not have a port for RM48xx, because most customers of that device need safety certification. There are no immediate plans for safety certification of SYS/BIOS.
