How to get HDVPSS prints on console using EZSDK

Hi All,

We are using ezsdk_5_05_01_04 for our project and we have HDVPSS source code (ezsdk_dm814x-evm_5_05_01_04_overlay_setuplinux) available with us. We are adding new decoder support for our project. For debugging we need to get prints from HDVPSS on linux console. There are "Vps_printf()" available in HDVPSS source code. How to get that prints on linux console? Is there any utility available for that? With "loggerSMDump.out " we are able to get only prints of OMX. We need to get prints from HDVPSS.

Hi Margarita,

I forget to tell you that we are working with TI's TMDXEVM8148 (1GB DDR3). I have already referred given link but I don't find any conclusion related to HDVPSS prints. I have also tried with utility available in DVRRDK "remote_debug_client.out" with debug address "0xbff00000" but didn't able to get any useful result. So am I giving right debug address? Does this utility work with EZSDK ? Or are there any option available with me?

If you have the map file for the .xem3 pls check the address of .bss:extMemNonCache:remoteDebugCoreShm section. This should be the address passed to remote_debug_client.out

With reference of .map file

bfef0000 0000f060 : remote_debug_server.oem3 (.bss:extMemNonCache:remoteDebugCoreShm)

I tried with bfef0000 address but still not able to get any useful result. Am I referring to correct address ?

This address is correct.When you run the remote_debug_client on A8 does it print the same address for M3VPSS.i.e:

M3VPSS Remote Debug Shared Memory @ 0xbfef0000

I tried with 0xbfef0000 address and remote_debug_client.out utility still not able to get any result. Has anyone tried it on EZSDK?

Hi Naranyanan,

We are in the middle of debugging. I did experiments according to your suggestions but still don't get any success. Is there any other utility available to get prints? Or "remote_debug_client.out" is proven with EZSDK. Am I doing any mistakes in running this utility? Am I missing anything? If possible please provide me steps to get prints.

I have not used EZSDK so don't know enough to comment. If the address for the remote_debug_client shared memory is correct it should work. If you have CCS you can connect to M3VPSS and single step thru the Vps_printf function to check the address the prints are being written to and use the same address on the A8 side.
