TMDXEVM6657LE problems with debug session in CCS

Hello!

I am a beginner with Keystone Multicore DSP. We purchased eval board TMDXEVM6657LE with CCS 5.1.1.00031. We have some troubles with eval board.

I run the "Example 1 - Building and running a simple single core application" from "BIOS-MCSDK User Guide" with CCS debug session. But LEDs on the eval board play only a few minutes. After that the message appears:

C66xx_0: Power Failure on Target CPU
C66xx_0: Failed to remove the debug state from the target before disconnecting. There may still be breakpoint op-codes embedded in program memory. It is recommended that you reset the emulator before you connect and reload your program before you continue debugging

Simultaneously, the orange led "SYSPG_D1" on eval board switches off.

What is this?

Elnur,

Are you able to run the Out of Box Demo program as explained on the Quick Setup Guide successfully? Are you able to run the Power On Self Test and see a result screen on the serial port output? Do all of the tests pass?

Are you saying that you repeated the testing of POST and OOB after seeing the reported failures and saw them pass?

my English is not very well, but I hope you understand me.

Our actions are
1. We turn on power supply on eval board with DIP switches for POST.
2. POST passes successfully.
3. And we see failures in a few minutes after power supply is turned on.
4. Eval board is in "three state". Orange led SYSPG_D1 switches off, and heat sink of DSP is cold.

We suppose that the power supply of the DSP is turned off spontaneously when heat sink of DSP is cold yet.
But if we warm heat sink of DSP before power on, we will not see such failures.

Another words, when heat sink of the DSP is cold the eval board is not stable (we see failures). And when heat sink of the DSP is warm the eval board is ok.

OK, thanks for the clarification. I did not understand that previously. It appears that there is some form of heat sensitivity on your board. You need to return this unit for repair or replacement. The RMA process can be found on the eInfochips web site.

Do you have another EVM that works correctly for comparison?

Yes, we have TMDSEVM6678LE. This board works nicely.

Please visit http://www.einfochips.com/TI-TMS320C6657-EVM.php to dowload RMA form. Please fill the form and send it to the email address specified in it.

After receiving RMA number from eInfochips you can ship the board for investigation and repair.

Additionaly, I would like to ask how you are warming up the board?

Ok. Thanks. We will think about.

We are warming up the board by heat gun. The temperature is 60 Celsius degrees. We heat the DSP heatsink during a few tens of seconds.
