Restoring the OMAP-L138 EVM SPI Flash

Hi,

I am using OMAP-L138 EVM with OMAPL138 SOM at windows platform. I flashed a simple test program using the wiki page given below which repeatedly blinks the LEDs on the OMAP-L138 EVM after booting. When I boot the EVM, LED is flashing but whenever I Debug Active Project in CCS v 4.2.0 to run other projects, I always get the following error message;

C674X_0: Error connecting to the target: Error 0x80000240/-1180 Fatal Error during: Initialization, OCS, The target is being held in reset. The applied reset must be released before progressing.

which eventually goes away after pressing RESET and it debugs active project. I successfully restore the OMAP-L138 EVM SPI Flash using ubl_OMAPL138_SPI_MEM.bin file but still getting the same error message when try to debug active project.

I wonder how can I fix this problem ? How can I get the factory default setting ? Is ubl_OMAPL138_SPI_MEM.bin correct file which I flashed ?

What are you trying to boot on the OMAPL138? If the objective is to boot Linux then you need a UBL and UBoot file which generally comes from the Linux PSP packages obtained here:

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/DaVinci_%28ARM9%29_PSP_Releases

As far as I know, the OMAPL138 EVM isn`t preflashed with anything so there is no need to restore the SPI flash. All procedure to boot linux is part of the PSP documentation.

Ok, understood. Why am I getting this error message which started to appear after I flashed LED blinking example ? How to fix that ?

BAS,

OMAPL138 is an ARM boot device so to run a program on the DSP, the ARM needs to bring the DSP out of reset either using the GEL file or using source code. Refer to the boot description mnetioned here:

If I am not mistaken, you are able to connect to the ARM but only C674x is giving you that error, is that correct?
