14 vs 20 pin header

Can we use a 14 pin JTAG with the DM81xx devices or must we populate with a 20 pin?

I personally think that it is common for devices with JTAG to be able to use both 14 and 20 pin headers; only the appropriate pinout has to be respected, refer to articles like this one:
