How to create /dev/rtcX from my RTC to update the system time?

Hello everybody,

I'm trying to use a RTC (model PCF-8563) with beaglebone. I am able to connect it with i2c bus without any problem.

The main problem is that it doesn't create a device for his use, like /dev/rtcX. I only have /dev/rtc0 from omap system, and the system is updated with this device.

So, could you support and tell me how I can use real-time clock with Android? And how can I create a /dev/rtcX from my RTC to update the system time?

Hello Marc,

You need to enable driver of rtc driver PCF8563 on linux menuconfig, and disable rtc-omap. You also need to add following on your board config file :

I2C_BOARD_INFO("pcf8563", 0x51),
},
};
