RE: RTC Section clarification on AM335x

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65910, TPS65910A

Marc,

Please ignore my previous post. I mixed up the two EVMs that I am working with.

My question is really for the AM335x processor.

On the eval board (AM335x EVM), is the real time clock function implemented using the PMIC TPS65910? Does the RTC function work even when the unit is powered down (I see a coin battery in the design) ?

If that works, I want to use that design on ours.

  • Hi Vishy,

I have split the thread, renamed it and moved it to the correct forum. Now to answer your question: The AM335X EVM doesn't implement the PMIC RTC - there is no 32.768kHz crytal attached to the PMIC. However this is a possible solution and can be used in a design for time-keeping when the unit is completely powered down. The TPS65910A consumes 6-9uA in backup state, so you should make your backup battery calculations based on that.
