JFFS2 mounting time

Hi all,

I have DM365 EVM that the kernel & filesystem exist in the nand flash.

When the system try to mount the jffs2 filesystem (on flash nand), its take a almost 2 min.

In addition, I tried to run from NFS & TFTP and when I mount the jffs2 on MTD3 and MTD4 it take about 2 min.

It is OK?

Which is the DVSDK version that you are using for development?

Peter,

Have you tried using UBIFS instead of JFFS? It will reduce the mount time quite well.

Hello Thomas,

I used TI DVSDK 4.02 with PSP version 03.01.01.39 and kernel version 2.6.32 on Spectrum Digital EVM DM365.

I need to use UBIFS instead of JFFS2. I have found out that I need to activate UBIFS support in the kernel in the following way:

make menuconfig

In the opened menu the following options should to be present:

Enable UBI - Unsorted block images

Miscellaneous filesystems -> UBIFS file system support

Unfortunately, these points appear to be missing in PSP version 03.01.01.39.

However, PSP version 03.21.00.04 supports UBIFS, but when I tried to use DVSDK 4.02 jointly with new PSP 03.21.00.04 I got the error which is described as per the link below:

Please advise how is possible to enable UBIFS file system support for my kernel version 2.6.32.

Thank you for reply! I have studied the suggested documentation before addressing to you. And, the main problem is still unsolved.

The following is missing in the configuration which is being used by me and which was described in my previous post:

Select Enable UBI - Unsorted block images as shown here:
...
<*> Enable UBI - Unsorted block images --->

Select UBIFS file system support' as shown here:
...
...
<*> UBIFS file system support
[ ] Extended attributes support
[ ] Advanced compression options
[ ] Enable debugging support
...

Therefore I am rather puzzled.

Mikhail,

Can you check whether UBI and UBIFS support is available in any of the Kconfig files? If so, see the conditions for enabling the same

Dear Thomas,

The problem has been solved.

All we had to do is to put a tick at <*> Enable UBI - Unsorted block images. Afterwards all the required options became visible :)
