Magnetometer Integration in TI-Android-ICS-4.0.3_AM37x_3.0.0 for Compass App

Hi,

I am integrating Magnetometer in TI-Android-ICS-4.0.3_AM37x_3.0.0 to make compass app working, I am able to get XYZ values from the Linux driver.

I need support on calculating Orientation Values i.e. YAW, PITCH and ROLL which is required for compass app.

can any body provide details on how to make compass app working in TI-Android-ICS-4.0.3_AM37x_3.0.0 using XYZ getting from linux driver.

You need to have write the HAL layer for your particular device to pass the values from the linux driver to the android sensor module.

The conversion to YAW, PITCH and ROLL values need to be done in your HAL if this is not available from the driver directly.

You may find information about this in your device datasheet.

For reference, I found the following HAL for AKM8975 in the the Google AOSP project. This includes Magnetometer, Accelerometer and Orientation support:

Hi im trying to port an external compass (HMC6343 sensor). I wrote an app based on https://code.google.com/p/android-serialport-api/

I can read data (pitch roll etc ) from my sensor in my app. Now I want to use this sensor with all 3th part applicantions.

Any ideas about how to start ?!?
