Audio Encode demo in DVR-RDK3.50

Hi,

I have test.pcm file (Signed 16 bit Little Endian, 48000 Hz sample rate, stereo) created using arecord. I have also verified test.pcm using aplay and its working fine. Then I ran audio encode demo provided in DVR-RDK3.50.00.05.

But I am getting followring error.

AUDIO: ENC -> Rpe_create failed, status: Invalid Create Params for Xdm algorithm(-1106)

Is there any parameter which i m entering wrong ? Find log for the same

I am exploring regarding the above point.

What is the reason for the below error if I want to encode a 16-bit, mono audio with 48Khz ?

Now it's working fine.

One more thing i want to ask, is audio decode demo (demo no.8) is for stereo input only ?

Because if I give numOfChannles=1 or 2 it always give me stereo output. I see below print by running this demo for numOfChannles =1 and 2 both.

This is a bug. desiredChannelMode is set to 1 for mono, 2 for stereo as is given by application which is incorrect. For aac-lc decoder, it should be 0 (IAUDIO_1_0), 1 (IAUDIO_2_0).
You can give values as 0 for mono & 1 for stereo in the app.

Note that you need to modify to app to enable 0 as input.

Still you will not get mono output. Output Format is set as IAUDIO_INTERLEAVED which will generate output in interleaved format with same data in both L & R. Same case if set to IAUDIO_BLOCK.

Where should I make changes to decode mono audio input ?

I have tried manually setting desiredChannelMode to IAUDIO_1_0 in rpe_audio.c file, but it was still not working.

please let me know the solution.

Setting desiredChannelMode to IAUDIO_1_0 in rpe_audio.c file is correct.

As I said earlier, it still does not give out mono output.

Try setting pcmFormat as IAUDIO_BLOCK and write only 1 channel data of the output.

Please refer IAUDIO_PcmFormat in aac decoder user guide (in ti_tools/codecs directory).

Hi yunshen,

The issue is in combination of sample rate, bit rate and number of channels.

Please refer AAC_LC_Encoder_C674x_UserGuide.pdf given with RDK set up.

Hi Sivagamy,

I will have encoded audio stream and i want to decode it and send it to Hp Out for playback.

Is this possible with MCFW ? I have seen that for playback, audio capture must be enable.

So How can I implement above usecase using MCFW ?

Failure in RpeClient_initConfigDB() looks like a memory issue. Did you do any changes to application? What is the release version, platform & use case executed?

Hi Shabbir,

Audio playback is done at app level and in demo code, it tries to just do capture playback.

You can use the playback code as reference and write code to invoke ADEC APIs to decode and play out using ALSA.
