ddr3 memory setting

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6672

Hi, I am using tms320c6672 with one ddr3 memory(1333MHz, 256MB).

I saw the PHY Calc and Register Calc spread sheet.

1. Should I use PHY Calc spreadsheet for configuring DDR3 memory?

2. In Register Calc spreadsheet, SD_TIM1, SD_TIM2, SD_TIM3, SDCFG, SDRFC register can be calulated. Are these things sufficient for DDR3 configuration?

3. Is it possible to use 1333MHz DDR3 memory with DSP PLL if I use 25Mhz input to DDRCLK? or should I consider the noise problem?

Any answer will be gratefull for me.

  • Choi,

Please refer to the Keystone DDR3 Initialization Application Report SPRABL2.  It can be found in the Application Note section of the Product Page -> TMS320C6672.

As far as input Clock speed for the DDR3, the min clock speed is 40MHz.  This is defined by the max period of the DDR3 input clock as being 25ns, within the Data Manual.

    Best Regards,

    Chad

  • Thank you for your reply.

I set 125MHz clock for DDR3 and it is working fine.

And I calculate the PHY and control register using spreadsheet.
