Installing LINUXSDK for Beaglebone

Hi,

I am planning to use the beaglebone and wanted some information for installing SDK on VMWare running on Windows 7.

1) At the moment I am using kubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386. Has anyone tried installing SDK on this version ? If yes, can you please let me know the procedure for running the script.

2)  If the option 1) is not recommended, can anyone please let me know if there are any issues in using Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS (PC (Intel x86) desktop CD image) on VMWare running on Windows 7 (64 bit)

Thanks,

Mohsin

  • Hello Mohsin,

    1) The SDK is not tested or supported by TI on this platform, however it is possible to override the host check by modifying <SDK_PATH>/bin/setup-host-check.sh if you'd like to try to run the SDK and setup script on this platform while keeping in mind that everything may not work exactly as expected.

    2) Ubuntu 10.04 is a supported platform and what you have proposed should work fine. Running VMWare is a common use case with the SDK and instructions on properly configuring this can be found on the TI Processors Wiki here: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/How_to_Build_a_Ubuntu_Linux_host_under_VMware. Although the guide is specfically written for Windows XP it should mostly apply for Windows 7.

    Regards,
