Auto exposure from small regions of image (DM6446)

Is there a way to get the Davinci auto exposure (AEW)  based only on information from a  small region of interest of the image (ROI)  instead of the whole image (the ROI  size is the haff  of the original one and located in the image center) ?

This will allow me to get correct exposure in the center of images containing initially dark zones or dark hole areas, even if the surrounding is overexposed).

I have looked on the VPFE documentation (sprue38) specially on the H3A section, but did not find whether it is really possible.

I am using the Linux 2.6.32 with dvdsk 2.00.00.22 and DM6446 DSP.

I would appreciate any help on this point !

  • Hi Labbe,

Do you have access to auto exposure module interface? Have you checked whether you have an option of selecting Center weighted / Spot metering option as Auto exposure metering scheme?

Otherwise also, it is possible using existing scheme.
