DM3730 interface with TVP5158

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5158, DM3730

TVP5158 Ref design mentions its interface with DM6467 video port. But DM3730 does not have a Video Input port, it only has Camera Sensor Interface , is there a way we can interface TVP5158 and DM3730 ?

  • Hi Muhammad,

It is possible to connect TVP5158 and DM3730. Look at the specifications of the TVP5158. TVP5158 provides a glueless audio and video interface to TI DaVinci video processors. Video output ports support 8-bit ITU-R BT.656 and 16-bit 4:2:2 YCbCr with embedded synchronization.

In other hand you can use parallel interface of the DM3730 - ITU mode: In this mode, the image-sensor module provides an ITU-R BT 656-compatible data stream. The horizontal and vertical synchronization signals are not provided to the interface. Instead, the data stream embeds start-of-active video (SAV) and end-of-active video (EAV) synchronization code. This mode works in 8- and 10-bit configurations.

    You should use 8-bit configuration.

You can find more detailed description of the Camera ISP in the TRM at the link below:
