DSP Selection

We requires a Image Processing Unit for our new medical product. For this we are looking a suitable DSP Processor with the following requirements.

Hardware Requirements:

  1. One CMOS Camera Interface ( 1k x 1k resolution with 8 Bit data with 30fps rate)
  2. 2 different DVI Display port should support 17inch monitor have the resolution 1280 x 1024 (SXGA)
  3. USB ( x2)
  4. Ethernet

The Platform should perform the following Image Processing functions.

  1. Circular Blanking
  2. Gamma Correction
  3. Image Average
  4. Interactive Contrast Enhancement
  5. Horizontal & Vertical Flip
  6. Image Rotation
  7. Image Zoom
  8. Edge Enhancement
  9. Image Negation
  10. Subtraction/Roadmap
  11. Dual Screen Mode
  12. Mask Selection
  13. Image Sequence Display
  14. Pixel Shift – Manual & Automatic etc
Can you suggest the suitable TI DSP processor for the above application? 
Whether DM8148 Is capable for driving the two different SXGA (280 x 1024) LCD Monitors? Please help.

  • Hello Ans,

    I think it would be better to contact TI local field engineer to discuss with him/her your application in order to choose the most suitable device setup. Keep in mind that some of the features could be supported by the hardware, but would require efforts from the customer for the software side.

    DM814x can support most of the use-cases. And wherever hardware support is not available, there is a DSP and SIMCOP unit which can be programmed to achieve most of these functionality..
