question about queue number for links

After checking queue number for each link, I found that it could be modified to fit some application. My question is there real max restriction for the number? if yes, why?

    For all links except dupLink numer of input queues can be only one. This cannot be changed.

    For all processing links like DEI/NSF/Capture/Encode/Decode the number of output queues is fixed and link will not work if the #define is modified.

    Only for dupLink output queue and merge link input queue changing the #define for number of queues will work as it is purely software links without processing.
