question about mpSclrLink and sclrLink

I found nothing about the difference between these links after checking DVR_RDK_McFW_Link_API_Training.pdf

What I found is some description like "Mega pixel Scalar link can be used to scale video frames of any size.". Does it mean there is restriction in sclrLink? if yes, what are the restriction? are there more differences between these two links? if yes, what's that?

  • Scaler link can scale only upto 1920 x 1080 resolution. For higher resolution you have to use MpScaler link

  • Q1. did you mean the only difference is the resolution?

Q2. when using Scaler or MpScaler link, the time consuming for the resolution below 1080p will be the same.Right? if the resolution is over 1920x1080, how about the time consuming? will it be the same as the resolution below 1080p? I want to clarify if any effeciency in MpScaler.

  • Hi Jack,

Scalar input clock remains same, so if you are scaling 1080p resolution, it will be able to do 30fps, but if you are scaling higher resolution, the fps will drop down.

Please note that mpScaling is not supported on all scalar, And also, the input to these scalar is YUV422 or YUV420 high mega pixel resolution, but output as of now is 1080p in YUV422 format.
