AM335x - Frequency Speed Grade Identification via Register

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

Hello experts,

Is there a way to determine the speed grade of AM335x through software--perhaps by checking a register?  I know of the DEVICE_ID and DEV_FEATURE registers, which do not seem to contain the needed speed grade information.

The reason I am asking this is because of the following scenario: if you have a situation where you are using the same board for two slightly different versions of a product, one of which contains a lower speed grade of AM3352 and then other with a higher speed grade AM3352, is there a way by which this difference can be determined by software without having to have use external memory or another mechanism to indicate this?

Thanks,

Josh

  • This was not possible on PG 1.0 devices, but we will have an EFUSE_SMA register on 2.x devices (at offset 0x7FC).

Using bits 12:0 of that register, one can determine the speed capability of the device.  Note that the values differ by package type (ZCZ vs. ZCE).
