AM335x with Asynchronous memory

Hi,

Our customer wants to evaluate AM335x for their new project.
But they want DDR3 and FPGA options.

The new StarterKit has DDR3 option, but we would like to know if it is
possible to connect FPGA to the StarterKit Board?
Or please let us know which board could be better to evaluate
AM335x with FPGA(as a Asynchronous memory).

Hi Prad,

The Beaglebone would be best for evaluating an FPGA, because it has all the GPMC interface exposed on headers. However it currently has DDR2 memory.

Hi Biser,

Thank you so much for the quick response.

I believe the LCD connections in the Starterkit doesn't allow FPGA with the GPMC.
Just in case we would like to know whether it is possible to
remove the LCD module to make use of the GPMC pins.

Hi Prad,

This could be possible but will require quite some work. I suggest you take a look at the Starter Kit board design files (http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM335x_StarterKit_Board_Design_Files) and then decide.

If you can wait a few more weeks, there will be a newer version of the Beaglebone shipping with DDR3. I believe mid to end of April timeframe.
