The connection of oscillator on TMDSSK3358

Guru 16800 points

Hi,

I'm using a TMDSSK3358 board and checking the schematic of it.
It seem that the ground pin of the oscillator (Y6) is left floating.
Should the ground pin be connected to VSS_OSC?

Thanks

Nomoto

  • If the oscillator package has ground terminals, those terminals should also be connected to the respective Kelvin ground terminals (VSS_RTC or VSS_OSC).

The decoupling capacitor connected to the VDDS_OSC (R11)  terminal should not be connected to the GND_OSC0 net which is connected to the VSS_OSC (V11) terminal as shown in the schematic.  This capacitor should have been connected to VSS.  I will discuss this with the person that designed this board and have him document this error in his errata document.
