Advantech quad shannon DSPC 8681 and 8682 DSP transcoder board implementation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6678

Hello forum,

I am looking for the hardware and software tools to develop full-duplex transcoding using Advantech's quad core transcoder boards.

Boards considered are:   Advantech DSPC-8681 and DSPC- 8682.  DSP processors on Advantech board are TI - TMS320C6678.  Boards are PCI express platform.

Intent is to input HD 1080p60 live IP H.264 streams.  Frame rates vary from 15-60 fps.  Bit rate is 1-10 megabits per sec.

QUESTIONS:

Which software is required and any other hardware required to implement Advantech's boards installed in a commercial Dell server?

Is the linux operating system available on TI website or forum to operate Advantech boards? Which linux version is best or proven for these boards?

Is controlling software available on TI website to start/stop ingress these test 2 IP streams, and then egress 2 streams to storage?

Can the Broadcomm switch on Advantech board be controlled by software?

Can the DDR3 memory be expanded beyond the on-board Advantech available memory?  Such as adding another PCI express card?

Is demo encoding/decoding transcoding/scaling software available to run these Advantech boards?

REQUIREMNETS:

  1. input or ingest H.264 IP video & audio from network or IP camera which is connected directly to Advantech transcode board
  2. once video/audio stream is received - perform transcode with scaling, decoding, and re-encoding
  3. decode and encode simultaneously or as independent operations
  4. input 2 different live video/audio streams with unique IP addresses
  5. requirement:  real time
  6. Advantech boards to be used in a Dell or IBM server
  7. linux based OS
  8. boards of interest:  DSPC 8682 (full length)   or   DSPC 8681 (half length)
  9. DSPC 8682 has 2 gigabit ethernet port connectors (RJ-45)
  10. DSPC 8681 has one gigabit ethernet port connector (RJ-45)
Thank you for your help and suggestions!

  • Hello,

This is the DM816x device (Cortex-A8 ARM + C674x DSP) forum, while your questions are regarding C6678 DSP, is that correct?

If correct, please ask your questions in the Keystone Multicore Forum:

  • Hello Pavel

My question are specifically about the  Advantech (company) DSPC-8681 and DSPC- 8682 PCI express boards.  The TI DSP processors on these board are TI - TMS320C6678

I am not sure where to post my initial questions regarding these  Advantech DSPC-8681 and DSPC- 8682 PCI express boards.

Please inform me which forum to use.

    Thank you for replying.
