Blurring in Arago File System GUI of TI AM3354

Hi Vignesh,

What driver are you using to drive your display? Is it a driver already implemented in the kernel, a modified driver or is it a driver provided by Newheaven? If it is released under the GNU/GPL licence then please post it here so that I can take a look at it.

I suppose you are using the da8xx-fb.c driver. If so, then please post what changes have you made to it. Also how do you initialize it?

There is no driver already in Kernel as it is Newhaven, so we added the driver in kernel and
I attached the Driver (ft5x06.c) with this. Yes, that is belongs to GNU/GPL version 2.

Our Screen Resolution is 800*480. So We used the below in the da8xx-fb.c file.

Note - We got the same blurring problem in the AM335x EVM given by the TI also. [We used the same display driver that is given by TI ]

So you have reproduced the issue on the AM335x EVM platform? Which SDK/PSP version were you using?

Please post the exact steps to reproduce this issue on the EVM using unaltered PSP.

We used the
PSP - am335x-evm-sdk-src-05.05.00.00,
File System- tisdk-rootfs-am335x-evm.tar

To Reproduce the issue [For Example]

In the EVM Board
#matrix_browser -qws -display transformed:Rot90 http://localhost:80

When you issue this command on the board the view will be changed to vertical. After this when you move your mouse all the pixels will break and you will get the blurring on the screen

I am currently trying to use the newhaven 5 inch capacitive touch screen display work with my AM335x starterkit.

Can you help me integrate FT5x06 touchscreen driver ? 

This starter kit is my first experience with embedded linux. So if you could post some code snippets from the board file, I will be thankful.

Hi Vignesh,

The reason why this happens is because you are creating 2 instances of the matrix gui on top of each other. You need to first stop the first instance and then start the second one with the desired screen rotation. Try this:

/etc/init.d/matrix-gui-2.0 stop - This will stop the current GUI
matrix_browser -qws -display transformed:Rot90 http://localhost:80 - This will start a new Matrix GUI with new screen orientation.

If you wish to add a permanent change to the orientation, edit the ROTATION="" field in the /etc/init.d/matrix-gui-2.0 script.
