How to verify that the board is working fine

Our camera and LCD that ships with the DM6446 board is no more available due to some reason. Now I want to test this board and see whether it is working fine or not. I tried connecting the board to the serial port of the PC, and tried to see on the HyperTerminal if the boot messages are coming or not. But actually when I did this nothing comes on the terminal. Am I missing some thing or is there any issue with the firmware?

If you do not have programmed using the serial port, it does not automatically give any data.

You can update a firmware for a try. or programming to use DM6446 some function, to see if normal.

I hope somebody is listening who can send me a link to update the firmware as suggested by Albert. above. Too many articles and user guides, wikis are confusing me a lot.
