Not able to Connect C6670L EVM using Hyper Terminal

Hi All ,

I am using C6670L EVM and I am trying to connect it using the Hyper Terminal. Even after doing all the configuration and switch settings as specified in the C6670L quick start guide , still not possible to get any acknowledgement in the Hyper Terminal console.

The switch settings made is as follows

off off on off / on on on on / on on on off / on on on on

I just got an empty console in the Hyper Terminal even after pressing the RESET_FULL button and waiting for more than 15mins

Connection made is as follows:

First try:

The mini usb port of XDS100 was connected to USB port of PC. Both Board and PC were connected to LAN using ethernet cables( that is both were connected to internet). The COM port was configured as mentioned in the quick start guide

Second try:

The mini usb port of XDS100 was connected to USB port of PC . RJ45 port of Board was connected to LAN port of the PC. They were not connected to the internet. The COM port was configured as mentioned in the quick start guide

For both of these settings the console of the Hyper Terminal was blank

Am i missing anything in the procedure to be followed

Thanks ,

Lohith

  • Lohith,

This is most likely COM_SEL setting problem (OOB and POST should OK). To rule out the OOB/POST problems,

    1) Put the EVM into no boot mode, that is SW3 (OFF, on, on, on), SW4, SW5, SW6 all ON.

    2) Connect the serial cable supplied with EVM (one side is 3-pin, the other side is 9-pin serial) and set the COM-SEL. See the attached photo.

    3) Open a Hyper Term /Tera Term/Minicom with 115200, 8-N-1

    4) Load the post.out under C:\ti\mcsdk_2_01_xx_xx\tools\post\evmc6670l\bin and run, you should see something printed on the console.

If you don't have JTAG emulator, then change step 1) to select OOB or POST based on the quick start guide, do 2) and 3) then power up.

Let me know if you can make this work.

    Regards, Eric
