two question about 4460's dsp

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: 4460

Hi,

my question is:

1.

http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/codecs/C64XPlus_Video/index_FDS.html

Can this codec run on 4460's dsp(C64+)? I found a description in swpu235y.pdf like this "Backward compatibility (not binary compatible) with existing C64x video coders.decoders (codecs) and high level of programmability and flexibility"

2.

What MIPS of 4460's dsp?

  • Quick comments,

    For 1)

You can post the question in one of the next forums, in order of importance.

    Multimedia Software Codecs forum

    DM64x DaVinci Video Processor Forum

    OMAP35x Processors Forum

They have a direct use for mentioned Codec, the first link is the specific forum for Codecs questions, the other 2 are for forum that uses the codec and are related to it's use.

    From the link

    http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/codecs/C64XPlus_Video/index_FDS.html

The mentioned application note that describes the process to adjust it depending on the used HW, there are some memory addresses and values that needs to be modified to fit depending the platform. I cannot find a reference to swpu235y.pdf but from the link you shared it leaves open the compatibility with other C64x+ devices but mentions it requires modifications, it is better to ask codecs forum.

The way that the codec is loaded in supported C64x+ mentioned devices is different than the way it is a codec used in OMAP4 (using 4AI release), that could be another difference to check.

About 2) and OMAP4460 I have only found next reference to Clock configuration in TRM chapter 3.6.3.8 DPLL_IVA Description and some tables that indicates the frequencies used for each OPP level and configuration. I am leaving this question open for someone else to answer it.

  • Thank you for your advice.

    1) Link of swpu235y.pdf(TRM). reference to 5.1.1 DSP Subsystem Key Features.

I will post this question in Multimedia Software Codecs forum, because it tends to hardware compatibility, rather than usage.

    2) wait for help.

Really strange, MIPS is an important performance indicators, but related documentation are not marked.

I found some information in TRM 3.6.3.8.7. DSP subsystem's max clocks is close to 500Mhz.
