AM3358 fail to boot - crystal

Hi,

My processor fails to boot (have connected a UART cable to the debig port but I see no stream of 'C' characters).

The system clock 24MHz fails to output the desired frequency. Will this explain the issue with booting? Also, what will be the implication if the ground of the crustal I am using for the 24MHz clock connects to the general board ground? can this stop the processor booting?

Hi,

The tips sites is telling me that ' ..... clock (ie, the high frequency clock 19.2, 24, 25, 26 MHz). Ensure this is outputting the expected frequency and the signal is swinging rail to rail (should be a 1.8V signal)'. My clock signal from the 24MHz crystal I have connected is a 2.2-2.3v signal. Does this mean that I am out of the processor clock spec? if this is the case, why the EVM I have and test boots with a 24MHz clock and 2.2V signal?

If your clock is the same as the EVM, then this isn't the problem. Check your SYSBOOT[15:14] settings - they should be 01b for 24MHz.
