Powering AM335x from 3.3 V

Good evening,

I'm working on a custom board based on SITARA platform to replace an old SoM. I have to power this module whit 3.3 V only.

I'm planing to use TPS65910A3 as PMIC for VDD MPU, VDDS_CORE and VDDS_DDR, VDDS_PLL ecc. All peripheral I/O should be 3.3 V so i have to connect VDDSHVx directly to input power.

I studied SPRS717E find that Figure 4-2 which describe Alternate Power-Supply Sequencing with Dual-Voltage IOs Configured as 3.3 V seems to be the right choice for my board because i have a battery in my system and VDDS_RTC can be up everytime ( it should keep RTC clock alive too ).

But what happen if i give 3.3 V to my board whit out VDDS_RTC ?

Thank in advance

Stefano

  • Based on your comments it sounds like you plan to use TPS65910A3 to generate all supply voltages less that 3.3 volts.

If this is the case, I'm not sure the PMIC outputs will meet the power-up sequence requirement defined in Note (B) of Figure 4-2.

The RTC power domains can be ramped independent of the other power domains if the PMIC_POWER_EN function is not required,  Please read Note (F) attached to Figure 4-2.
