Regarding DM3730 EVK LCD Interface

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DM3730

Hello,

We are currently using DM3730 evaluation kit. The expansion bus connector is used for the custom LCD/Touchscreen interface. We have an 18bit LCD and I2C touchscreen. The connector has only 16-bit LCD interface, R[1..5] G[0..5] B[1..5]. How to interface our 18bit LCD to this? Please confirm.

  • Hi,

I recommend you to connect the 16-bit LCD interface lines to the LCD screen which has 18-bit bus. Two of the touchscreen's lines will be void. You should stay void the lines which correspond to the less significant bits of the Red and Blue channels.

  • In our design, we have followed the below connection:

    1. R[1..5] from the EVK to R[1..5] of the LCD display.

    2. G[0..5] from the EVK to G[0..5] of the LCD display.

    3. B[1..5] from the EVK to B[1..5] of the LCD display.

    4. R[0] and B[0] of the LCD display is connected to ground. Hope by void you mean to connect them to ground.

Is my understanding correct? Also, what do you mean by keeping void the touch screen lines? Please explain.

  • Yes, your understanding is correct. Connect the less significant lines of Blue and Red to ground.
