TMS320C6745 Interface DDR2/3

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6745, TMS320C6746, OMAPL138

Hi,

Is it possible to interface DDR2/3 with Tms320c6745 ? ////////  if yes , could you please tell me how to do ?

if no , kindly reply me why it so not possible ??????

Many Thanks,

Thiyagarajan.S

  • Thiyagarajan,

The datasheet for the C6745 states which memory types are supported. DDR2/3 are not supported, but SDRAM is supported.

    The C6746 supports DDR2 but not DDR3.

These are facts about the devices, stated in the datasheets. I am not sure what you are looking for in your question of "why it is not possible?"

  • RandyP,

Thanks for your kind reply...   sorry my question is wrong... i know these are facts  about the device. ok. i understood your reply.

Is C6746 is pin compatibility with C6745 ?...... already i have C6745 Board. just i replace by c6746 and start interfacing ddr2 .,

Do you know any resource for this kind interface article ?

    Many Thanks,

  • Thiyagarajan,

Please look at the datasheets or the Product Folder summaries to compare the TMS320C6745 with the TMS320C6746. You can find the packages that both are manufactured in and the pin counts for each.

No, these devices are not pin compatible, but that must not be your real question, since you know that a DDR2 device cannot be pin compatible with an SDRAM device.

For any customer looking to migrate from one DSP to another, we recommend contacting the engineers at one of the TI Design Network companies. You can find them from the TI.com home page, Support & Community tab, then click on the TI Design Network link.
