Hi all,

Is there a plan to support Hwcomposer on the omap3 GPU power SGX530 on android ICS/JB to make the ui smoother ?

Hi Mike,

Currently we don't have plans in place to support HWComposer for AM37x devices.

However I believe HWC may not have significant impact on UI performance.

"I believe HWC may not have significant impact on UI performance" I read some stuff that said the same thing but i didn't really understood why not. Could you give me some reasons ?

Hi Mike,

Hardware Composer HAL, is defined for unification of Video overlays and Graphics composition under the same umbrella.

As the graphics composer used for UI composition/rendering itself may not change much apart from implementing policy algorithm to handle

video/graphics layers, I don't think it would have significant impact on UI performance.
