CCS SysLink sample rebuilding error

Hello,

I tried to create a CCS project for SysLink samples as described in the following link:

I'm using CCS v5 under Linux with the following packages:

syslink_2_20_02_20
xdctools_3_24_06_63
ipc_1_24_02_27
bios_6_34_02_18

I receive the following error message when I try to rebuild the project after making the changes mentioned in above wiki page:

Cannot read property "base" from undefined MessageApp_common.cfg.xs /messageQ_DSP Configuration Validation XDCTools Configuration Marker
Cannot read property "base" from undefined MessageQ_ti81xx_dsp.cfg /messageQ_DSP Configuration Validation XDCTools Configuration Marker
Cannot read property "base" from undefined SysLinkSamples_common.cfg.xs /messageQ_DSP 91 C/C++ Problem
Cannot read property "base" from undefined SysLinkSamples_common.cfg.xs /messageQ_DSP Configuration Validation XDCTools Configuration Marker

  • I was able to create the executable messageQ_DSP.out using the following component versions as mentioned in SysLink release notes:

    • XDCtools 3.24.03.33
    • SYS/BIOS 6.34.03.19
    • IPC 1.25.01.09

    I wonder where this error comes from.

    Thanks for your response. I was able to generate A8 and DSP excutables (MessageQ_A8 and messageQ_DSP.out) using the packages I mentioned in my previous post. Now, I have problem for running the executable on DSP side. I first tried to load the DSP .out executable using firmware_loader similar to what we do for .xe674 files:

    firmware_loader 0 messageQ_DSP.out start

    But I got the following error message:

    FIRMWARE: Ipc_CONTROLCMD_LOADCALLBACK Error: ProcMgr status 0xffffffff
    FIRMWARE: Could not start: -1

    Then, I tried to connect to the DSP via JTAG XDS510USB emulator using the instruction given in the following link:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Connecting_to_DSP_on_C6A8168,_DM8168,_DM8148

    The JTAG connection is verified by "Test Connection", but the C674x bringup script in the GEL file (evm816x.gel) shows the following error message:

    CortexA8: Output: PRCM for C674x is in Progress, Please wait.....
    C674x() cannot be evaluated.
    target is not connected
                  at *((unsigned int *) (0x48140000+0x0650))=(unsigned int) 0 [evm816x.gel:325]
                  at C674x()

    Please let me know how I should run the .out executable for the DSP.

  • I was able to load the DSP executable using the slaveloader module:

    ./slaveloader load DSP messageQ_DSP.out

    If I understand correctly you rebuilt only the DSP side of the Syslink. What can cause the failure in your case is incompatibility in memory map between A8 and DSP.

  • I'm not sure what you've built above but SysLink itself does ship a couple of basic stand-alone examples that can build for given setups.
