AM335x + TLK110/105/106: Wake on LAN (WOL) -> MDIO signals?

Hello,

is it necessary to isolate the MDIO / MDClock lines of the AM335x to minimize power consumption in standby when using the Wake on LAN functionality of the TLK110/105/106 Ethernet PHYs?

I assume the TX/RX lines can be left connected.

Hi Lo,

The Serial Management Interface of the TL110 remains active when the PHY is placed into low-power modes.

Hello Biser,

Do I need additional circuitry to isolate the TLK110 serial management interface from the processor (AM335x) if the TLK110 PHY is in low power mode and the AM335x is powered down?

Is there any protection in the TLK110 so the serial management interface does not try to pull the IO side of the AM335x up?

I want to avoid power consumption in stand by (with WoL active) and would like to prevent large currents over the serial management interface if the processor next to it is not powered.

Hi Lo,

I don't think this can happen. The MDIO_CLK is an input to the TLK110 and MDIO_DATA is a bi-directional signal which should have an external pullup.
