No logs with DSP/BIOS and CCS 5.4

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAPL138

Good day experts,

My setup is as follows:

- C6748 DSP

- DSP/BIOS 5.42.1.09

- CCS 5.4.0.00091

I have recently upgraded to the latest CCS, but now I do not seem to get any logs or CPU load  anymore. Has something changed in how to activate logs in the TCF script file or am I missing something else?

Regards

  • HI Reineir,

On what device is this C6748 core on?

  • Hi Tom,

The C6748 core is on our own custom hardware board, but the logs worked just fine on CCS 5.2, it worsened (i.e. sometimes it would work and other times it won't) when I installed CCS 5.3 and now  its not working at all on CCS 5.4.

I do not really I have an idea how I can debug this, please help!

    Regards

  • Hi Reiner,

I just tried a "hello example" for a C6748 on a OMAPL138 and I got logs in ROV's LOG module. What device is this C6748 on? Do you think you could try a basic "hello example" on board of yours? Can you post your .tcf file?

  • Hi Tom,

I re-installed CCS 5.4 since I remembered that my AVG Free anti-virus detected some of the CCS behavior as a virus and "fixed" it. I also have compile with AVG disabled, otherwise I get access denied errors on some files, I can't remember the details now.

I also tried the standard "hello world" example after re-installation and the first time the logs and the CPU load came out fine, but the second time I ran the application I got the following error:

The example would not even execute and the logs were gone too. I first had to close the logs and CPU tabs and re-run the application and it worked again, only to fail again after the second execution.

    What's going on here??

EDIT: We are using the just the C6748 DSP (no OMAP) on our own custom board.

  • Hi Reiner,

I'm wondering when you run your application the 2nd time if are loosing some hardware initializations by resetting the board. How are you setting your board up for the 2nd run? I'm not sure if some Gel scripts are also doing some work here behind the scenes... From  your gel scripts, it looks like your initializing some DDR.

What if you just click on "Restart" instead of "Reset"?
