C5535 bootloader SPI pin assignments?

The SPI interface on the C553x can be on two different sets of pins, depending on the PPMODE setting in EBSR.

Which configuration is used by the C553x bootloader? only the "PPMODE = 1 or 6" that is used on the EZ5535 card, or does the bootloader also try the other "PPMODE = 3 or 5" pin configuration?
