DSP evaluation board for audio amplitude modulation with 40kHz carrier?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAPL138

Hi,

i hope this is the right forum, this is my first post here...

I'm a student and need some advice in choosing the right and affordable dsp evaluation board.

For a project i need to do some real time amplitude modulation with an audio signal (music) and a 40-45 kHz carrier.

This signal needs to be amplified afterwards to be send on a ultrasonic transmitter grid.

Now i'm afraid to choose the wrong evaluation board and the audio outputs and DACs can't handle the 45 kHz...

Is the LCDK L138 Evaluation board suitable or do you know an other affordable evaluation board that can manage this?

I'd be very grateful for any help or advice.

 Thank you in advance

Christoph

  • Hi Christoph,

    Thanks for your post.

Inorder to perform amplitude modulation and there after amplification with an audio signal,  i would rather prefer C6748 LCDK instead of OMAPL138 LCDK, so that it would be more affordable.

Also, please refer the "Selection Guide" section to choose the right processor for right application in the below path:

The above link would help you to select the better processor which meets your application need for your future reference.

  • Hi Sivaraj,

thank you very much for your reply. I have just one more question:

Am i correct that the DAC of the C6748 LCDK is capable of a sampling rate of 192 kHz at the outputs and therefore could playback a maximal analog frequency of about 87 kHz? (Nyquist-Shannon:  192/2,2 =87) Or are there other limiting factors on the audio outs?

I'm worried that the ouputs could be limited to 20 kHz or something like this...

    Thank you and regards,

    Christoph

  • Hi Chrishtoph,

I hope, this should be possible. Please refer the below link:
