Dear all,

Currently we are using TMS320VC5502 DSP.

But it have only 64kB internal memory.

We require around 250kB.

So because of only memory issue we select TMS320C6746.

Is it good?

Is there any other DSP which fulfill our requirement.we need functions same as DSP320VC5502.But memory is only 64kB.

So which is best DSP for Our application.

    Hi Rahul,

    Thanks for your post.

    At a high level, if you compare the datasheet specifications of both C5502 & C6746, my suggestions are below:

    1.  C6746 holds 320KB On-chip memory and C5502 holds only 48KB.

    2. C6746 is a Fixed/Floating point DSP and C5502 is just a Fixed point DSP

    3. Peripheral wise, C6746 has more hardware features like McASP, SPI, EMIF, eCAP, MMC/SD, VPIF & many more but C5502 doesn't have the same and has only minimal features.

    4. Connectivity wise too, C6746 has USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi & Internet but C5502 is a low-end DSP and it has no connectivity.

    Based on my above findings, obviously C6746 holds good features and high CPU speed compared to C5502 in all aspects.

    Please refer the below links for datasheets of both C6746 & C5502 in which you shall compare & do more analysis on the same.

    Thanks for differences.

    But there is drastic change in coding side between both DSP's.

    So there is any other DSP which have around 250KB internal memory ,and same as 5502.
