Camera for AM335x

Hello

We are designing Android custom device using AM335x processor. We have to implement the camera functionality but we are facing some issues regarding camera.

We refer the Beaglebone camera cape but its using GPMC[0:15] its occupy the NAND/eMMC interfaces so i cant add camera like used in BB and also they are using CSSP chip.

But in TI tablet reference design they using USB camera. We cant use USB camera at the time of mass production more than 10k.

Is there any other interfaces for camera in AM335x?

Kindly advice me for camera implementation .

Hi Kumar,

The AM335X does not have a dedicated camera interface. I don't know what type of camera you want to interface, but one possibility is the PRU_SS general purpose inputs (see Tables 2-37 and 2-39 in the AM335X Datasheet, Rev.F). These are two 16-bit parallel capture interfaces.

So you mean i can use those pin mentioned in table 2-37 for parallel input ?

Is this work for camera or i have to do more works to make it work? Its tested ?

It's a 16-bit parallel capture input with a capture enable signal. This is located in the PRU_ICSS subsystem. You will probably have to develop your own software to make this work. There is a PRU support package here: https://github.com/beagleboard/am335x_pru_package
