DSK 6713 memory expansion

Hi, I'm using the DSK 6713 starter kit and the 16Meg of RAM is too little for my application.

Doesn't look like TI have made their own daughter board for the expansion slot.

Does anyone know of 3rd party products that will mate/work with the 6713 expansion slot?

Thank you,

  • Emin,

Welcome to the TI E2E forum. I hope you will find many good answers here and in the TI.com documents and in the TI Wiki Pages. Be sure to search those for helpful information and to browse for the questions others may have asked on similar topics.

If you have not found any references to DSK6713 daughtercards that would fit your need on TI.com, then a good internet search engine would be a big help to you. Try searching for something like "dsk6713 daughtercard" (no quotes) or use other similar terms.

I have seen compatible prototyping boards from places like Link Research and Educational DSP. My suspicion is that you will pay from $100-$200 US for the board.

If your only goal is to add RAM to the DSK6713, and if you cannot find one on the web, then the prototype board can be used to add memory. You will have to design it and add the parts and the wires, but it is something you can do.

If this is for a new product development, the C6713 is probably not a very good choice. It is a great teaching tool, but we have much better, faster, and more powerful DSPs now. For $195 you can buy a Low-Cost Development Kit for the C6748 with 128MB DDR memory and a bunch of great peripherals. The main website is at TMDXLCDK6748 and the Wiki page is L138/C6748 Development Kit (LCDK).
