Hi Sir :

I work on DM8148 platform and use DVRRDK_03.00.00.00 to develop our system.

And we use tvp5158 as our decoder.

When we capture the DVD video and play back the image, we find out there is a white dash line on the top of the screen.

The below image shows the problem.

I have read some information in below link, but I have no idea which registers in tvp5158 I should modify to solve this problem.

I wonder if I should modify TVP5158 register or to change some setting in VPSS.

Could you give me some suggestion to solve this problem?

Hi Marcus,

I think this is line 21 blanking data, which comes from the DVD player, if you connect camera to the input, you will not see this white noise.

However, I still want to know if there is a way to skip this line.

It might be possible to tell the DM side driver to either skip the first lines when capturing the video, or to tell the next process in the chain to start reading from the capture buffer at t memory address which skips the first line(s).

I don't think there is a way to tell the TVP to move the capture window position when using embedded syncs.

Hi Marcus,

I think it is best to do in the next processing step as driver does not know if the input is coming from TVP or any other encoder or any other standard. Typically, line 21 data is part of active video in NTSC, but driver does not even know that it is NTSC mode. But application knows the input standard since app is the one configuring standard in the TVP, so it is better skip line in the application.
