Memory mapping code, and constants from certain files to ddr memory

Yes. We can use either internal or external memory in the project through command linker file or cfg.

  I am using the 6748.  Say for example I have 2 files, test1 and test2.  I want to put all of test1 code, defines, constants, etc in external ram (DDR).  I want to put all of test2's code, defines, constants etc in internal memory.

You can create SECTIONS either internal memory or external memory through linker CMD file.
However you can use pragmas for your project.

You are creating SECTION for allocating memory through cfg instead of linker command file.
After allocating the memory sections in cfg, verify with memory map file after build the project.
If your idea is not working, I can suggest that use in your C file functions with PRAGMA calls like CODE_SECTION, DATA_SECTION.

Hi Pubesh,

  So I started looking into the pragmas like SET_CODE_SECTION and SET_DATA_SECTION at the top of each file.  For some reason, these 2 pragmas did not work for the .const and the .far sections.  How would I handle these 2 with pragmas?

 Im trying to put all the NDK code into DDR memory.  I can not use the library for the NDK because we have a custom board which uses a different phy and RMII interface, not MII.  I have been working with a single file to get into my specified sections in DDR.  I am having trouble getting the .const:.string and the .cinit data into my sections.  What pragma's should I use for these sections?  I have used the data section pragma for the global variables and the code section pragma for the code.

Did you move all the section into DDR(in cfg) and verify with the memory map.
You cannot give the same section for internal and external memory at the same time.
Either you can mention internal or external memory for const.

(or)

  I created 2 new sections:

Program.sectMap["DEBUG_CODE"] = "DDR";

Program.sectMap["DEBUG_DATA"] = "DDR";

I can get all the code and global variables into these 2 sections.  I see the trampoline which concerns me.  Will this make the code run slower because its not contiguous in memory?  Also, the only other memory map issues I have is with the .const:.string and how can I set the section for #defines?
