DM369 upgrade from DM368

   1)  is the hardware really pin for pin compatible as advertised?

   2)  is the core software compatible as advertised?

   3)  what kind of speed increases can we expect in encoding and gpu performance?

Regards,

-Jaden

  • Jaden,

    1) Yes.  You can even drop-replace DM369 on a DM368 PCB for you to test

    2) Yes.  The difference is that DM369 is capable of running TI's 3rd generation noise filtering for low-light

    3) The main performance difference is the capability of running the advanced low-light noise filter via hardware acceleration.  Other DM368 components will still run at the same good quality on the DM369 silicon

  • Jaden,

DM368 and DM369 run on same clock frequencies and are pin-to-pin compatible

Arm is at 432Mhz and DDR at 340Mhz

  • Will there be any new releases of the DVSDK beyond 4.02.00.06?

    -Carl

  • Hello,

DM369 is targeted for new third generation improved noise filter along with DM368 functionality.

DM369 runs on same clock freq as that DM368 and is pin-to-pin compatible.

So DVSDK should run on DM369 too as DVSDK does not have Noise FIlter in it

What that the query you were looking for?

Regarding DVSDK releases, please check with local sales to get all the details

    Regards,

    Raghu

  • So is there any benefit to the DM369 if you are not using the noise filter?

  • Hello Bob,

DM369 is designed to add third generation noise filter functionality on top of DM368.

If you are not using Noise Filter, then DM368 and DM369 is same

    Raghu

  • Although the TI website points to DVSDK 4.03.00.06 as the latest release for the DM368, there is no DM368 download available on that page.  PSP 3.21.00.04 supports the DM368 and has the 2.6.37 Linux kernel that is apparently in the DVSDK 4.03 but lacks the supporting components the are part of the DVSDK.  There are features in Linux 2.6.37 and later that would be very beneficial to my application.  I hoped that announcement of the DM369 would mean updates to the DVSDK were in the works.  At a minimum, I'd like a way to get a complete DVSDK 4.03 package for the DM368.

    Thanks,
