ti-sdk-beagleboard-05.07.00.00 apt-get

Hi ,

I have downloaded arago source

from http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/am_bu/sdk/BeagleBoardSDK/latest/exports/ti-sdk-beagleboard-05.07.00.00-Linux-x86-Install

I need to install new packages in the file system but

apt-get command is not found .

Can any one tell me how to enable apt-get in the file system.

Regards,

Dibin

  • Hi Dibin,

The apt-get command must be called on the host computer (your PC) which needs to operate under Linux. I'm not sure what kind of Linux you are using but if it is Ubuntu as it is recommended you could to check whether the apt is installed. On the menu go to System / Administration / Synaptic package manager and search for apt. If it is not installed install it.

The try to use the command sudo apt-get.

But the built filesystem is not working form me , please correct if am moving in wrong direction. Is there any TI official support for arago filesystem building.

  • Hi Dibin,

    Sorry for the delay.

The Arago does not support apt-get since that is pretty heavy weight in terms of overhead. Arago uses opkg which grew out of ipkg and is a kind of light weight version of apt-get more suited for embedded systems.

  • Hi shulev,

    Thanks for response.

I need to Modify the Base aargo filesystem as per requirements.

Please check the above post i have pasted my log .

Can you point me about that?

Does TI support any Filesystem building setup for arago?

    Regards,

    Dibin

  • Hi Shulev,

opkg install command is not working  for me.

i want yo install wireless-tools package.

even if i try to install any command its not working .

    root@beagleboard:~# opkg install vim
    Unknown package 'vim'.
    Collected errors:
    * opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package vim.

    Regards,

    Dibin

  • Hi Dibin,

As I see the output of the opkg install command the problem is that the package is not fount. You should specify the repository where can download the package. You can read more detailed description about opkg command usage at the links bellow:
